Guess where Chennai residents and students are trying to fly now?

The second Coronavirus infection wave has been brought under control now in Chennai and the residents are feeling happy about that.
It is known that the USA has begun processing visa applications and due to this reason there is a huge demand to fly to the USA now. Truth is that the slots for appointment of visa interviews get booked as soon as they open. By the end of the month of July or August, the students must be present at the universities in the USA.
Information is that the US consulate has been offering appointments for July and August for the people to submit their biometrics and appear for the interviews.
After the Coronavirus pandemic has been brought under control, the USA has been trying to open its borders for international travel. Those people who have been waiting for a long time have also started to apply for the visa etc. With so many Chennai people trying to go to the USA now, the website has been slowing down. Many from the neighbouring states of Kerala, Karnataka and AP are also very much interested to go to the USA and for them the US consulate in Chennai is the nearest centre.
It was later brought to light by a person that her daughter has been trying every morning but could not get slots till now. As traveling to Mumbai or Delhi is not preferred now, and Chennai is much preferred. It must be noted that the students who got admissions in the USA to various UG, PG and doctoral studies must travel soon as many others are also now in the race to travel to the USA.
It was mentioned by another person that he has been finding it tough now as the website has become very slow. Point is that he has to join his job in the next month in the USA compulsorily. He added that the slots get booked soon after they appear. He has been working from home and now a project has come for which his presence in the USA is needed. Getting a visa appointment has been a struggle for him.
The students prefer universities in the USA as they have many relatives in the USA and the demand for travelling to the USA has become more. This was as per Mr. Basheer Ahmed belonging to Chennai metro Travels. He hinted that the students and those returning to work have been travelling now to the USA. Travel agents have been sought out for those who want to meet their relatives in the USA.
He concluded that with so many willing to travel to the USA now it would be superb if the USA allows direct flights from India as it would help to restart international travel.
Since 14th of June 2021, thousands of students have secured visa appointments for July-August months. This was pointed out by a spokesperson for the US Consulate General in Chennai. He hinted that thousands of appointments remain available and in the coming days thousand more appointments would b be opened. There would be system delays for the applicants due to huge demand now.
