On Thursday, 3rd June, the total number of samples tested for Coronavirus infection was 32592 and out of those just 2062 samples tested positive in Chennai. This meant a TPR of 6.3%. The data from the Chennai Corporation showed that the TPR of 6.3% was the lowest ever in Chennai the last 2months of time since 31st March.

On 10th April and on 11th April, TPR in Chennai city was 13.9% and 13.4% respectively. On 20th April, TPR reached 23.8% with a huge number of Coronavirus positive cases. Every day from 21th April till 9th May 2021, TPR in Chennai city was around 20percent. It was shocking to note that the TPR in Chennai rose to 26.6% on 10th of May. Fact is that TPR on 10th May was the highest ever since 1st of April 2021. In around 12 days of time, the number of active Coronavirus cases in Chennai saw a steep fall and that was due to reduction in the TPR plus reduction in the number of daily new cases.

It is worthy to mention that on 22nd May, Chennai had 49236 active cases and that was the highest ever since the Coronavirus infection outbreak. Now, the number of streets with active Covid-19 cases has reduced and just 365 streets in Chennai have more than 10 cases and these streets have containment restrictions. Point is that as on Thursday 4460 streets had just one Coronavirus case. It is known that on 17th May Chennai had as many as6600 streets with more than atleast one active case.
