With the Coronavirus increasing in Chennai and in TN it is obvious that more restrictions have now come up. On Monday night, TN government had announced restrictions and these restrictions would be in force between 4am of 6th May till 4am of 20th May.

It has been mentioned that all the government as well as private offices would operate with a maximum of 50% employees.

According to an official release, new restrictions have been imposed in terms of unavoidable reasons and this was due to the recommendations from the home and health ministries of the Union government to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection and to intensify the preventive measures.

In the passenger trains, metro trains, in the government buses and rental taxis, only 50% seating capacity would be permitted. Important information is that standalone grocery and vegetable shops would be allowed to function without air-conditioning till noon. Permission has been given for just 50percent customers at a given point of time and essentials like medical shops and milk supply would be allowed. From 26th of April onwards, TN government had prohibited big format shops, malls and shopping complexes etc. In restaurants, hotels, mess, takeaway services would only be allowed. Point is that tea shops would be available till noon and door delivery of food would be allowed at lodges and hotels.

In open spaces as well in closed spaces, all social, political, sports, entertainment, education, cultural events are prohibited and movie halls would not function. From the earlier permission given for 25 persons to take part at wedding related gatherings and funerals, TN government has now reduced the number to just 20. Containment zones belonging to the rural places would not have beauty parlours, spas etc. It is known that these have been prohibited in the corporations and in the municipalities already. Night curfew and total lockdown on Sundays have been in force already in TN and they would also continue now.

It is worthy to note that fish markets, chicken stalls and meat stalls would not be allowed on Saturdays and Sundays but would be allowed to function on other week days from 6am till noon.
