Chennai to have high relative humidity or RH - Tough for the residents

With moderate rains expected over the next week, thunderstorms would decrease in southern and Ghats districts of TN. It is clear that coastal districts of TN would have high humid weather and higher perceived temperatures.

As per an official belonging to RMC Chennai, thunderstorms with light to moderate rains is likely to occur at isolated places over Western Ghats district, Kanniyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Erode, Tirupattur, Vellore and Ranipet on Tuesday, 3rd May 2021. For the rest of the week, light to moderate rains is expected in these districts. On Monday, light to moderate rains with thunderstorms were witnessed in the districts of Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Tenkasi, Theni, Virudhunagar, Kannniyakumari, Tiruppur etc. There was dry weather for other districts.

It is now said that in Chennai and in other coastal districts there would be high relative humidity or RH and the temperatures would be higher than the normal. There would be a RH between 50% and 90% in these districts and this would result in the perceived temperature to be higher by 4 to 5 degrees rise.

Chennai based weather blogger Mr. Pradeep john was of the view that Chennai would have normal to below normal temperatures for the next week. He added that southern parts of TN would continue to witness good thunderstorms.
