In TN, more than 1500 teachers who have cleared TRB must appear again

More than 1500 aspirants who were selected to teach classes11 and 12 in the TN state run schools are facing a unique problem now!!
It is learnt that TNTRB or Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board has declared their credentials null and void and they have been asked to appear for the examinations once again. In September 2019, TNTRB conducted an examination to fill up about 1900 vacancies and out of which 1500 candidates emerged successful. In November 2019, their certificates were verified. Counselling was held in January 2020 and later the selected candidates list was released. Till now, the appointment orders have not been issued to these candidates.
According to a senior official belonging to TN TRB, the recruitment process could not be done within a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. As a result, the vacancies have become backlogged. It is said that the selected candidates would have to attend the exam once again. Notification regarding the new examination would be issued soon. Some sources belonging to the school education department highlighted that it was up to the board to decide on the teacher’s appointment. Truth is that a request has been sent to recruit 1900 PG teachers but TNTRB is yet to appoint them.
The officer later threw light on the age reduction and said earlier the maximum age for recruiting government school teachers was 57. As per the GO, now the age has been reduced to 40. It was mentioned by a candidate on the list that the new rule regarding age would not affect the future of about 600 candidates (out of total 1500) who have crossed 40.Point is that the authorities have not heeded to the requests despite several representations to the government to look into this issue.
The TN government would consider the demand and this was according to Mr. K. A. Sengottaiyan, minister of school education.
