Originally, NEET 2020 would have taken place in India on 3rd May 2020 but was postponed till 26th July due to lockdown to contain Coronavirus pandemic. On 26th of July 2020, NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test would be held all over India for the medical aspirants.

The latest news is TN government would urge the Centre to postpone NEET 2020 further as there is no clarity about restoration of normalcy in the Chennai city due to Coronavirus infection issue.

In the notification issued by NTA or National Testing Agency, it was clear that the medical entrance examinations have been rescheduled to 26th July due to extraordinary circumstances arising due to COVID pandemic.

It was pointed out by a senior official of the School Education Department that there has been a steady increase in the Coronavirus cases in TN as well as in the entire India. He added that the government of TN hoped that NTA would postpone NEET once again.

Still, there is no information from the NTA/MHRD and TN government would ask the centre to postpone the examination. From the state of TN alone, more than 1.2lakhs of medical aspirants would be appearing for NEET 2020. These students would be writing NEET exams in more than 500 centres in the districts of TN.

For the sake of monitoring the Coronavirus pandemic in TN, a special medical expert team has been constituted. This team had informed the authorities that it would be difficult to conduct NEET even by the month of August.
