More police personnel tests positive for Coronavirus infection in Chennai

The news that in the Greater Chennai City police limits, as many as1129 police personnel have tested positive for Coronavirus infection has been the topic for discussion for many now. In the Chennai hospitals, as many as54 police personnel have been under treatment

Police personnel along with front-line workers have been involved in identifying, preventing and containing the Coronavirus pandemic in Chennai ever since the outbreak began in Chennai. These policemen have been out on the roads to enforce lockdown announced to contain the spread of Covid-19.

It has been revealed that 444 police personnel have been discharged and they have joined the duty again. As many as 631 policemen are now under home and institutional quarantine.

It was brought out by Chennai police commissioner Mr. Viswanathan that policemen who had slight illness have been asked to leave. He added that those who have tested positive for Coronavirus have been in quarantine for a time of 28 days. He concluded that only those policemen who felt mentally as well as physically fit were asked to return to work.

It must not be forgotten that in the middle of June month, an inspector Mr. Balamurugan of Mambalam police station tested positive for Coronavirus infection and he passed away.
