No minimum balance required by SBI savings account

The Head of the premier public sector bank of India, State Bank of India (SBI) has announced that minimum balance need not be kept henceforth in the SBI Savings Account.
There are a large number of customers holding savings accounts in SBI. There was a condition of a minimum balance to be kept in the savings account it was Rs. 5000 for big cities and Rs, 3000 for other places. A penalty was levied on the customers who did not keep this minimum balance.
In this scenario, in a recent announcement, SBI Head Rajneesh Kumar has announced that the minimum amount need not be kept henceforth! 44.51 Crores account holders will avail this benefit.
He added that this decision has been taken with the view that the maximum satisfaction of the customer is the utmost aspect of the bank!
