Broker-free office likely to be set up in Guindy

Starting from next week, a new premises will be functional in Guindy. Here, the brokers will not be allowed in any of the four sub-registrar offices. Individuals who are directly involved in registration processes can only access these offices.

District registrar office in south Chennai including south Chennai joint 1 and 2 sub-registrar offices, Alandur office and Virugambakkam registrar offices shall all be shifted to Thiru Vi Ka Industrial Estate, Sidco Electronics Complex, Guindy. Sources from the registration department from all these 4 offices say the functioning in this new office shall begin on 1st August.

Buyers, sellers, advocates and witnesses who directly involve in registration will only be allowed. This initiative is to eliminate the involvement of brokers, said an official.

It is likely that about 1500 people will visit the offices on a daily basis. This will soon get doubled, they said.

On the whole, the joint 1 and 2 of south Chennai produces a total of Rs 180 crore, and the Alandur and Virugambakkam offices make about Rs 60 crore and Rs 150 crore respectively.

Currently, the south Chennai district registrar office is functional at private building located in Jeenis Road, Saidapet.
