Works resumed on joggers track at Elliots Beach

The jogging track works along Elliots beach is currently on the go and a lot of other facilities for visitors are being carried out under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme.
The department of tourism is handling the state-wide project. Amidst these, the corporation is currently working out to develop Marina and Elliot’s Beach for facilities such as drinking water, lighting, landscaping, information signs, play area for children, rain shelter, etc.
Recently, works towards the 800m jogging track was paused after the residents showed resistance. They started asking why should there be such a jogging track. They preferred sand to walk on. Officials say, the track will be along the corner and that the remaining beach area can be used for walking. Upon carrying out further inspections and keeping in mind the benefits for beachgoers, works will be done further. At present, the footpaths are being used by the joggers in the morning and evening. Along the seaside, open gym will also be set up soon.
As a move to benefit tourists, a little improvements are being done. The wooden ramps towards the beach will soon be constructed, an official added. The overall project estimate is Rs 6 crore.
