Posted on: 04/Feb/2018 7:31:38 PM
The proposed system of E-way Bill, for the goods being transported throughout the country within the state or from one state to another, which was to be introduced shortly, has now been postponed suddenly. It is gathered that the problems encountered on the 1st-day of the trial have led to this postponement.

The central government has ordered that the details of the goods transported should be registered by the traders on the computers, make a receipt and carry it when the goods are transported.

It was announced by the central government this receipt is known as ‘E-way bill’ will be mandatory whenever goods are transported from one state to another or covering a distance of more than 10 km within the state.

However, the traders transporting goods within the state appealed, many states had given an extension of time on this. However, 10 states including Tamil Nadu implemented the E-way bill system from 1st February.

Accordingly, there was a huge rush of the traders trying to get their E-way bills registering on the system, lots of difficulties were encountered in processing and getting the E-way bills. So, the goods could not be sent.

Subsequently, the E-way bill system has been postponed throughout the country.

The officers of the department of commerce and trade in Tamil Nadu explained in this regard: Due to administrative reasons, the E-way bill system for transportation of goods from one state to another or within the state has been postponed indefinitely. Once the problems are solved, the system will be implemented.
