Echo effect of severe power shortage: Gas cylinder prices to go up!

Chennai Industrial Gas Producers’ Association has informed that the prices of hydrogen & oxygen cylinders will be raised.
The president of the association, Mr. Kannan, informed the reporters.
There are more than 400 centres in Chennai which produce the hydrogen & oxygen gas cylinders required by the medical and other industries.
The existing power shortage and power cuts for long durations have severely affected the production of gas cylinders.
Taxes are being levied on the sales of hydrogen & oxygen cylinders used medical institutions & other centres.
Over the last few years, taxes on these cylinders have been frequently increased to the extent of 300 to 400%. The price of the cylinders has been raised recently in Karnataka & Andhra.
Until now, the prices were kept under check in Tamil Nadu. However, due to the prevailing conditions, the association has decided to raise the prices of hydrogen & oxygen cylinders.
