Especially in the winter season, we would have high calorie requirements. It is true that we just look into healthy food options to satiate our mid meal cravings. Intake of raisins or dried grapes could be superb for health in the winter season because we could get energy instantly. It is believed that by eating raisins soaked in the water overnight we could have better nutrient absorption. In cooking, baking and brewing, raisins are being used is well known to us. Raisins would have various nutrients like sugar, fibres, calcium, boron, antioxidants etc in them. Various health benefits of eating raisins are lowering blood sugar level, improving digestion, in weight loss etc. Many of us consume raisins in excess amounts and that is not good.

Various health issues or side effects we could get by excess consumption of raisins are

Could lead to digestive issues:

Fiber rich raisins would make the digestive health better. Absorption of other nutrients would decrease by consuming excess raisins having fibres. Truth is that dietary fibres could absorb excess fluid from the system and this could help in treating diarrhoea etc. When we take excess raisins without drinking much water then we could get issues like dehydration, indigestion etc.

There are various antioxidants present in raisins like polyphenols, bioflavonoids, phyto nutrients etc. It is necessary to eat raisins in moderate amounts because there are too many antioxidants present in raisins and they would react with free radicals first and then with the healthy cells. This could lead to oxidative damage to the healthy cells.

Leads to weight gain:

It is advised to eat moderate amounts of raisins and by that we could be able to lose our excess weight. Over consumption of raisins could lead to weight gain only.

Increase blood sugar levels:

Raisins are rich in sugars and calories. Consuming raisins in moderation would be beneficial and if excess raisins are consumed then there could be an increase in the blood sugar levels. Those who have diabetes must be careful while consuming raisins.

Fatty liver issue:

It must be taken into account that raisins have triglycerides and when consumed in excess raisins could lead to heart diseases and fatty liver issues etc in us.

Allergies:

There are chances that excess consumption of raisins could lead to allergies in some persons. When a person gets skin rashes or itching etc after eating raisins then he or she must stop eating them immediately.
