Meat vs dairy products and their effect on diabetes

Posted on: 06/Apr/2015 6:32:13 PM
According to a new research, it is said that consumption of high-fat yoghurt and cheese can very well control the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. It’s also said that there is a link between high consumption of meat and type-2 diabetes

The study report says those who took high-fat dairy products were 23 per cent lower with the risk of type-2 diabetes. No matter what the level of fat content is, consumption of meat will certainly have huge impact on type-2 diabetes.

The research involved studying 27,000 individuals of the age ranging between 45 and 74. They took part in the Malmo Diet and Cancer study conducted in early 1990s. After about 20 years, nearly 10 per cent of the total participants that counts to 2860 developed type -2 diabetes. Rather than being keen about the intake of saturated fat, the research involved studying various sources of saturated fat. These are present in both meat and dairy products, however dairy products of specific kinds contain certain saturated fatty acids.

This difference in the amount may be the reason behind increased possibility of type-2 diabetes in meat eaters whereas that’s not the case with those who take increased dairy products.
