Flight operations of IndiGo, India’s largest airline, continue to face major disruptions across the country. For the 7th consecutive day in Chennai and the 8th straight day nationwide, a large number of IndiGo flights have been cancelled, severely affecting domestic air travel.
According to official updates, 41 IndiGo flights were cancelled today at Chennai Airport. These include 23 departures and 18 arrivals, leaving thousands of passengers stranded and causing widespread inconvenience at the Chennai International Airport.
IndiGo’s Dominance in Indian Aviation
IndiGo currently operates a fleet of 434 aircraft and runs:
- 1,840 domestic flights daily
- 460 international flights daily
The airline commands a massive 55% to 68% share of India’s domestic aviation market, making the ongoing disruptions one of the biggest aviation crises India has witnessed so far.
Domestic Air Services Severely Affected
Over the past one week, IndiGo flight cancellations have increased sharply across multiple cities, resulting in:
- Missed connections
- Long delays
- Passenger overcrowding at airports
- Heavy losses to travelers and airlines
With Chennai witnessing continued cancellations for the seventh straight day, frustration among passengers continues to grow as there is still no clear indication on when operations will fully normalize.
Airport authorities have advised passengers to check their flight status in advance before heading to the airport.
