Cyclone Ditwah : Chennai to Receive Very Heavy Rain on November 29 and 30

Chennai is likely to receive very heavy rainfall on November 29 and 30. The districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Chengalpattu and Kancheepuram are expected to receive 12 cm to 20 cm of rainfall, according to the Meteorological Department.

Red Alert for Cauvery Delta Districts

A red alert has been issued for four Cauvery delta districts for tomorrow, as rainfall exceeding 21 cm is likely.

Orange Alert for 10 Districts

An orange alert has been issued for ten districts for the day after tomorrow.
Tiruvallur, Ranipet, Kancheepuram, Vellore and Tiruvannamalai districts are likely to receive very heavy rainfall on November 29. Very heavy rain is also expected in Kallakurichi, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Thanjavur districts the following day.

Strong Winds in Bay of Bengal

Wind speeds of up to 100 kmph are likely over the Bay of Bengal due to the influence of the weather system.

Land Winds Up to 50 kmph

In Tamil Nadu, land winds may blow at speeds of 40 kmph to 50 kmph, especially in the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Fishermen Advised Not to Venture into Sea

Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea for the next 5 days. Those already in deep sea areas have been asked to return to the shore immediately.

Monsoon Rainfall 2% Above Normal in Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu has recorded 2% excess rainfall this northeast monsoon season. While the normal rainfall for this period is 341.1 mm, the state has received 348.6 mm so far.
