Chennai is set to become the first city in India to bring all modes of public transport under a single digital platform.
On Monday, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will launch the ‘Chennai One’ app, developed by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA), during its second governing board meeting. He will also approve the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP), a 25-year roadmap for the city’s transport system.
Key Features of Chennai One App:
One City, One Ticket: A single QR-enabled ticket for buses, metro, suburban trains, cabs, and autorickshaws.
The CMP and app aim to provide seamless travel, reduce congestion, and cut carbon emissions by promoting public and non-motorised transport.
Officials said this initiative will be a game-changer for urban mobility, improving commuter convenience while reducing dependence on private vehicles.
