Anna University’s Centre for Water Resources (CWR) is set to launch a specialised training programme for Civil Engineering graduates aiming to crack competitive exams like UPSC, TNPSC, GATE, and ESE. The initiative addresses the lack of syllabus coverage on water resources engineering, a subject that holds 15–20% weightage in these exams.
Dr. M.S. Karthikeyan, the programme coordinator, emphasized the importance of subjects like hydrology, groundwater modelling, dam safety, GIS, and water quality – often missing from regular BE Civil syllabi. The course will offer strategic exam preparation, focus on high-scoring topics, conceptual clarity, and guidance based on previous exam papers.
The programme will also pave the way for graduates towards higher studies, research roles, and consultancy opportunities in India and abroad.
