Health Minister Ma Subramanian flagged off 11 private mini-bus services on Monday at the Transport Commissioner Office, Guindy. This is part of the State government’s revamped mini-bus scheme aimed at strengthening last-mile connectivity in urban and peri-urban areas. The launch follows Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s inauguration of the comprehensive mini-bus scheme in Thanjavur.

- 72 routes approved for Chennai, with services starting on 11 routes in Phase 1.
- Mini-buses permitted on routes up to 25 km, with 65% on unserved roads.
- 2,857 routes identified across Tamil Nadu, including 2,010 new routes.

Officials said more mini-buses will be introduced as operators secure permits. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance connectivity for underserved communities.
