Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa orders release of water from Aliyar dam in Coimbatore

The release of water from Aliyar dam in Coimbatore district for irrigation purposes from October 3 was ordered by Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
"On the request of farmers, I have ordered the release of water from Aliyar dam to Pollachi, Vettaikkaran Pudur, Sethumadai and Ootu channels for irrigation from October 3," Jayalalithaa said in a statement.
The release would benefit over 22,332 acre farm lands in Pollachi area of Coimbatore district, she added.
