Chennai Metro City Announces Free Travel for Differently-Abled Citizens with Existing Passes!
It has been announced that the differently-abled citizens are permitted to travel free by showing the older travel pass.
The details of the circular notification sent to the Branch Managers released in this regard by the Managing Director of the Chennai Metro City, Albi John Varghese:
"The task of distribution of the Free Travel Pass in the Government Buses for the differently-abled citizens, Freedom Fighters, and Senior Tamil Scholars.
It has been decided to introduce this facility in the Chennai Metro City Corporation Buses in the first phase. Accordingly, the facility was launched as an inaugural function on the 7th of September 2023 at the Chennai Secretariat by the Tamil Nadu State Government Transport Minister Sa. Si. Sivasankar.
In this scenario, it is instructed that until the new travel pass for free travel for the financial year 2024-25 are issued ONLINE, the passengers showing the Travel pass valid until the 31st of March may please be permitted to travel free!
In a similar way, the passengers showing the travel pass obtained ONLINE must also be permitted to travel free.
The officials receiving this circular are instructed to follow these guidelines strictly, treat the differently-abled citizen passengers gently and ensure tat no complaints are received in this regard."
