Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi tonight (Tuesday, 19th December) at 10.30 PM.

The purpose of the meeting is to appeal for the release of funds to address the disastrous damages caused by Cyclone Michaung. The cyclone and heavy rains have wreaked havoc in four districts in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai. A special team from the Central Government has already visited Tamil Nadu to assess the extent of damages.

Chief Minister M K Stalin had earlier appealed to the Central Government to release a temporary fund of Rs. 7033 Crores and a permanent relief fund of Rs. 12659 Crores.

Even before the abatement of the disaster caused by Cyclone Michaung, heavy rains hit the four southern districts of Thirunelveli, Thenkasi, Thoothukkudi, and Kanyakumari, leading to massive floods and extensive damage to existing infrastructure.

In this critical situation, Chief Minister M K Stalin aims to emphasize the release of sufficient funds to restore damages in both the northern and southern districts.

The Chief Minister had previously written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting a meeting, and the Prime Minister has allotted time for the discussion.

As part of his engagements, Chief Minister M K Stalin recently inaugurated the scheme `Makkaludan Mudhalvar` (The Chief Minister with the citizens) in Coimbatore on Monday, 18th December. Following the event, he departed for New Delhi from Coimbatore. At the New Delhi Airport, he was greeted with bouquets by the Parliamentary leader of DMK T R Balu and the special representative of the Tamil Nadu State Government in New Delhi, A K S Vijayan.

Furthermore, Chief Minister M K Stalin is also scheduled to participate in the 4th meeting organized by the `India` team on the 19th of December (Tuesday), showcasing his active involvement in national initiatives.
