Train speeds to be increased soon for more than 900kms - Southern Railways!!

For the year 2021-22, the Southern Railways or SR has increased the speed of 236km railway lines and has saved 22.10km in various sections. The GM of SR Mr. B.G. Mallya hinted that the work for increasing the speed for 949.24km has been going on and is in the advanced stages now. He added that the travel time would be reduced by 45minutes.
The railway stadium at Perambur in Chennai was buzzing with activities yesterday 15th August 2022 because Mr. Mallya hoisted the national flag there and grabbed the attention of many. He accepted the guard of honour from the railway police force or RPF.
During 2021-22, SR has achieved an overall gross earning of Rs 7093 crores and this was 76% higher than the 2020-21.This was according to the GM of SR. Till the month of July, SR had gross earnings of Rs 3154 crores. It was 78% more than what SR earned in the same period last year. He threw light on the punctuality percentage for April to July 2022 which was 94/7percent.
Fact is that it was the second highest performance of all IR zones. For about 80.345km, SR has completed the works on increasing the train speeds and between April and July, SR has saved 5.87 minutes.
During 2021-22, a total of 45 permanent speed restrictions were removed or relaxed. This has led to total time savings of 42.81 minutes. Up to July in 2022-23, 10 permanent speed restrictions have been removed. This has led to the savings of 6.97 minutes. In ten remaining time a further relaxation of 68 PSR is targeted.
The passengers as well as the railways have been protected well by the railways police force or RPF and the superb work of RPF was appreciated by the general manager of the southern railways.
