Get ready for heavy rains in Tamil Nadu for the next 3 days

For the next 3 days, the meteorological department has predicted heavy rains in the state of Tamil Nadu. This would be due to the low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal that is likely to move towards northern TN.

According to Mr. S. Balachandran, Indian Meteorological Department, it was clear that the prevailing low pressure area in the central part of south Bengal and Indian Ocean along the equator has intensified. In the next 24 hours, the low pressure would become a deep depression. In the subsequent 48 hours, it would move towards the coasts of Sri Lanka and north Tamil Nadu. Today, 4th March 2022, there will be light to moderate rains in few places in coastal TN, Karaikal and Pondicherry etc. Light to moderate rains would be there in some inner districts of Tamil Nadu also.

In one or 2 places, there would be heavy rains in the districts such as Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukottai, Cuddalore, Villupuram and Chengalpet etc. There would be very heavy rains in one or two places also. On 5th of March, light to moderate rain is likely in most parts belonging to coastal TN, Puducherry and Karaikal etc and in one or two places in the inner districts. There would be heavy to very heavy rains in the Cuddalore, Kallakurichi and Villupuram districts. On 4th and on 5th April 2022, the cyclone is likely to occur in south western Bay of Bengal, adjoining central and west Bay of Bengal, North eastern and southern Andhra Pradesh. The fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
