In TN, new vaccine doses received for vaccinating kids in the age groups 12 to 18!!

For vaccinating children in the age group 12 to 18, Tamil Nadu received 3.89 lakh doses of Corbevax. It is known that the Union Health Ministry has allotted 21.66lakhs of Corbewax for TN. this was as per Mr. M. Subramaniam, health minister. He mentioned that there are more than 10lakhs children in Tamil Nadu in the age group 12 to 15 and adolescents in the age groups 15 to 18 have already been administered with Covaxin. He concluded that once the Union Ministry announces the dates, vaccination would be given to those in the age group 12 to 15 in TN.
After Bharat Biotechs Covaxin and Zydus Cadila’s ZyCoV-D, Corbevax from Biological E would be the third vaccine to be given emergency use approval for children. The interval between first and second dose of vaccination would be 28 days and there would be vaccination drives in the schools in TN.
It is learnt that as many as 82.27% of the children in the age group 15 to 18 have been administered with first dose and 37.64% second dose. For above 18 years, the coverage is 91.39% for the first dose and 72.01% for the second dose.
It is important to note that on 27th February 2022, intense pulse polio campaign would be held in TN. Point is that about 57.61 lakh kids in the age group zero to5 years would be eligible for this polio drops. The health minister later mentioned that more than 2 lakhs of government staff would be engaged in the work. In TN, there would be as many as 43501 camps. The superb piece of information is that TN has been polio free for the last 18 years. Due to this pulse polio camp there would not be any mega vaccination drive for Coronavirus infection on this coming Saturday.
