Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there are prospects for a ‘low-pressure’ zone to be formed over the southeast Arabian Sea which may transform into a storm.

In a notification regarding this released by IMD, it is mentioned:

“There are prospects for a ‘low-pressure’ zone to be formed on 14th May and this is likely to intensify to transform itself into a storm and is likely to drift towards the central Arabian Sea on 16th May. It is likely to cross the coast between Gujarat and Pakistan.

As such, there are prospects for heavy rains with thunder and strong winds in Lakhdiv, the coastal districts of Karnataka, Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, and South Tamil Nadu.”

Due to the prevailing cyclonic format in the upper layers of the atmosphere over Tamil Nadu, IMD has informed that there are prospects for heavy rains with thunder in the 4 districts of Kanyakumari, Nilgiri, Thenkasi, and Thirunelveli in the next 48 hours.
