In Chennai, few COVID care centres closed now as cases reduce

For about a week now, Chennai city has been recording less than 1000 Coronavirus infection cases daily and this has brought some happiness on the faces of authorities. As a result, the authorities have now closed down fee Covid care centres in Chennai.

Anna University has been a Covid care centre in Chennai and many patients were getting treated here is a known fact. Now, this Anna University or AU Covid care centre has been closed. This centre is a referral unit of Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital or RGGGH in Chennai.

As per the dean of this hospital, Dr. Therani Rajan, there were 3 Covid care centres and the one at the AU has been closed down.

The occupancy has come down to less than 50% now and due to this reason the Covid care centres at Anna Adarsh College for Women and at Quaid-e- Millath Government College for Women has been closed.

The hospital dean later threw light on how PG doctors have been relieved from the Coronavirus works to prepare for their examinations. He added that the hospital has been managing with the available manpower now.

A referral for Government Omandurar Medical College Hospital is Stella Mary’s College. In the past this college was used as Covid care centre for the patients. This Covid care centre has also been closed down. 

It must be noted that the news about the closure of the Covid care centres in Chennai comes on a day when the fresh number of Coronavirus infection cases in Chennai stood at 989.
