On Thursday, there would be moderate rains in Chennai

Now we all know that cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ is moving towards the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. The news is the meteorological department officials have predicted moderate rains to occur in Chennai city on Thursday, 2nd May 2019.

On Tuesday, the Chennai city recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius and it grabbed the attention of many. The important point is the impact of cyclone has brought down the maximum temperature that was above 40 degree Celsius on Tuesday to 36 degree Celsius on Wednesday.

It should be noted that the cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ has intensified into an extremely severe cyclonic storm is now at 420 km east-north-east of Chennai, 660 km south-south-west of Puri in Odisha, and 400 km south-south-east of Vishakapatnam in AP.  It is now pointed out that on Thursday the sky would be cloudy and light to moderate rains is likely to occur in some parts of the city of Chennai.

The information collected is Thursday would be hotter than Wednesday with a maximum temperature of 38 degree Celsius and it is due to the fact that the cyclone would be moving farther away. This cyclone has been responsible now for the cancellation of 5 trains from Chennai on 2nd May and one train on 3rd May.

On Thursday, the trains that are cancelled are train 22808 MGR Central- Santragachi Express, train 22613 MGR Central-Haldia Express, train 22826 MGR Central -Shalimar Express, train 12840 MGR Central-Howrah Mail, train 12842 MGR Central- Howrah Coramandel Express. On Friday, train 12842 MGR Central- Howrah Coramandel Express would be cancelled. The point is incoming trains on this route have also been cancelled.

For providing relief and assistance, Navy as well as Indian Coast Guard are put on standby. Along the Tamil Nadu, AP and Puducherry coasts, the Coast Guard has deployed 9 ships and planes. As many as 5 ships have been deployed along Odisha and West Bengal Coasts. It is worthy to mention here that the Coast Guard ships are also kept on the standby for mobilization of disaster relief materials in association with state authorities at Chennai and Vishakapatnam.

For alerting fishing boats from Chennai, Bhubaneshwar and Kolkata, 4 Dornier sorties are launched every day on an average is known. As per the press release from the Coast Guard, it is clear that the Coast Guard has coordinated with fisheries authorities of respective states and confirmed that no fishing boats are operating at the sea.
