Out of order: one-third of ATMs being non-functional

At a time when the Central Government has been actively engaged in improving the banking facilities in villages, the Reserve Bank of India has mentioned with discontent that one-third of ATMs is not functioning.
The Reserve Bank of India has made a survey on 4000 ATMs in the country. The ATMs surveyed were situated in various parts of the country and were of various banks. It has been mentioned that majority of ATMs were not functioning. The RBI has also mentioned with discontent that many violations of various regulatory instructions such as on display material, facilities for differently abled.
