Posted on: 25/May/2016 2:44:26 PM
Works to digitalize school syllabus of department of school education are shelved at present. As a move to complete these works, 25 handpicked teaching staff members are set to undergo a three days training program. The program will begin in Trichy today.

National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) had announced digitalization of school syllabus. A mobile app called e-Padasalai was launched for the same. Teachers were given with appropriate training through NCERT at Delhi. This was given for digitalization of state curriculum. This training saw participation by Vijayanath from Salem, Suresh from Thiruvarur, Vijayakumar from Vilupuram, Singaraj from Thiruvallur, and Uma Maheshwari from Erode.

They have now got back to work and started with digitalization of mathematics, science and social science. These works are completed under the Information and Training Technology of State Council of Educational Research and Training. The subjects can be studied using Philip. Once a subject is clicked, the computer itself will read out the lessons to the student. The syllabus can neither be corrected nor edited. However, changes can be made electronically.

Furthermore, if a teacher teaches lessons in an easily understandable manner, a video attachment of such lessons will be given too. As a first step, three lessons are digitalized. As editing in Tamil is tough to do, it is time consuming. Hence, extra staff members are to be appointed for the job. Hence, 25 new staff members are appointed for digitalizing syllabus of class 1 to 12 so that the job can be done on time within the deadline. Training for these staff members will begin on Wednesday in Trichy.

Tamil Nadu is the state with maximum number of mobile phone using children in the entire nation. Hence, there will be no need for school children to carry loads of books. All school lessons can get fit within a memory card.

Students can get access to their lessons from any corner of the world. Digitalization is being done with the help of available basic features and free software tools.
