Traffic diversions on the occasion of republic day

On the occasion of Republic Day celebrations some changes in the traffic on Kamarajar Road is made. Traffic diversions will be introduced on January 22, 24 and 26 for rehearsals for the Republic Day celebrations on Kamarajar Salai. The stretch of Kamarajar Salai from Light House to War Memorial will be closed to traffic from 6am till the end of the programme.
Commercial vehicles coming from Adyar and heading towards Broadway on Kamarajar Salai will be diverted at Greenways Road towards R K Mutt Road, V K Iyer Road, Devanathan Street, St Mary`s Road, R K Mutt Road, Luz Junction, Karpagambal Nagar, Sivasamy Salai, Royapettah High Road, Royapettah Tower Clock, Whites Road, Smith Road and Anna Salai to reach Broadway.
Other vehicles, including MTC buses, from Adyar to Broadway will be diverted at the Santhome High Road-Kutchery Road Junction towards Kutchery Road. These will have to use Kutchery Road, Luz Junction, Karpagambal Nagar, Sivasamy Salai, Royapettah High Road, Royapettah Clock Tower, Whites Road, Smith Road and Anna Salai to reach Broadway.
MTC bus 27D on Radhakrishnan Salai towards Gandhi statue will be diverted at RK Salai-VM Street Junction towards VM Street and through Royapettah High Road, RK Mutt Road, Mandaveli Junction, South Canal Bank Road and Srinivasapuram to reach Foreshore Estate.
MTC bus 21G, 12G and 45B will be diverted at Royapettah High Road flyover. Vehicles will not be allowed beyond RK Salai-Dr Natesan Road Junction towards Gandhi statue. They will be diverted to Dr Natesan Road. Similarly, vehicles will not be allowed beyond Dr Natesan Road-Avvai Shanmugam Salai Junction towards Kamarajar Salai. They will be diverted to Ice House Junction. Vehicles going to Besant Road-Kamarajar Salai Junction will be diverted at Besant Road rountana towards Ice House. The Anna Square bus terminus will be operated on Wallajah Road near government guest house.
