Butcheries to remain shut on 24th Jan

The Chennai Corporation has ordered closure of butcheries on 24th January, owing to the memorial day of Vadalur Ramalingar. In a press report rolled out for the same, it is said that all butcheries functioning under the public healthcare department (livestock department) will remain shut on the memorial day of Vadalur Ramalinganar.
There is also a ban on selling meat in butcheries at departmental stores or shopping malls where the meat is sold fresh or preserved. All butchers are expected to cooperate in this regard, the corporation has pleaded.
