Posted on: 09/Dec/2015 12:42:32 PM
International airlines and carriers have resumed operation at the Chennai airport from Tuesday. The city has got the all clear from DGCA, which is the aviation watchdog.

The first flight to land was a Gulf Air from Bahrain. According to officials, this was followed by an Air Arabia and an Air Mauritius. They say that Emirates and  Cathay Pacific would also start operations.

The official said, All carriers were expected to start their scheduled international flights in a day or two. Foreign carriers did not operate their flights immediately because there was a Notam (a Notice to Airmen) showing airport closure. Many of the airlines have started consulting their associates and ground handlers to find out if flights can be operated... The operations on Tuesday were smooth. The constraints of the terminal will be known only after full-fledged operations start in a day or two.
