4 lakes breached near Chengalpet

In the Kunnavakkam Village, located near Chengalpet, 4lakes – Eechangarai, Thirupperi, Anjur Periya Yaeri, Anjur Naval Yaeri – were breached.
This immediately led to flooding of the houses in Thenmelpakkam, EEchangaranai, Anjur, Kunnavakkam, Anjur Village, Targat Chetty Punniyam, Thimmavaram, Mahalakshmi Nagar, Chengalpet J C K Nagar, Vedhachalam Nagar, Varadarajanar Street, and Guntur areas.
Lakes at Kattankulathur and Ninnakkarai are full to the brim. Due to this, the roads at Singaperumal Kovil and Sriperumbudur are cut off. Since rain flood water is moving like a stream, traffic has been blocked.
Warning has been issued to the public not to venture out of their houses especially in the villages where water has flooded and surrounded residential areas.
Waist-high water is running as a stream in the Chennai-Chengalpet National Highway.
Power has been cut off from today morning (Tuesday, 1st December) in the areas covering Chengalpet, Thimmavaram, Aandhur, Melamayur, and Vallam.
