Tomatoes prices soar high

Since there is less inflow of tomatoes, the tomatoes are sold for Rs 50 per kilo. Last week tomatoes were sold for Rs 20 per kilo in the Koyambedu wholesale market. It was sold of Rs 25 per kilo in retail price. All of a sudden prices of tomatoes were sold for Rs 30 in wholesale market and for Rs 40 in retail markets. Tomatoes were sold for Rs 50 per kilo in Jam Bazaar and Vysarpadi markets.
When asked Thiagarajan who is a wholesale tomatoes merchant about this sudden hike of price, he said, Other states are only fulfilling the tomatoes requirement of Tamil Nadu. Last week we received 70 loads of tomatoes but this week we received only 50 loads of tomatoes and that is the reason for the price hike.
