The order became effective from 1st July. The original licence and vehicle registration would be confiscated from the persons caught without wearing helmet. The vehicle will be confiscated from the persons without the registration & licence. The vehicle and the papers will be returned on presenting the proof of buying an ISI certified helmet. Some advocates protested this.  However, High Court authorities stood firm and declared wearing helmet was compulsory for everyone including advocates.

The police continued catching the persons driving without wearing helmet. They confiscated the documents and gave a receipt for the same. Up to 12th last month, 1.30 Lakh cases have been booked throughout Tamil Nadu.

31,000 cases were booked in Chennai Metro City. Police informed that 3 lakh cases have booked throughout Tamil Nadu during last 1 month when the order has been implemented. However, the officials refused to provide district-wise details. They told that helmet-checks would continue.
