Additional opportunity given to Chennaites by Chief Electoral officer

Chief Electoral officer in a statement has mentioned, "Out of the total 5.62 crore electors registered in the Electoral Rolls of Tamil Nadu, because of the co-operation of the electors and the quality work of Electoral Officers, so far details of Aadhaar numbers of 2.64 crore electors have been successfully seeded in the electoral database. The 16.40 Lakh claim forms in 6, 7, 8 & 8A received for inclusion /deletion / correction / transposition have been disposed off by the Electoral Registration Officers.
If an elector wants to appeal any rejection order passed by the Electoral Registration Officer, an appeal may be made by the applicant to the District Election Officer. Now, to get the Aadhaar number and contact details from other electors who have been issued with Aadhaar and who have not utilized the earlier opportunities under NERPAP when Booth Level Officers turned up for collection of data during the door to door verification, an additional opportunity is given now.
The Booth Level Officer will be visiting the door steps to those electors who have been issued Aadhaar number during the National Population Register survey and who have not yet furnished their Aadhaar details during earlier attempts. An appeal is made to all the electors to co-operate and furnish Aadhaar number to electoral officials, if the electors have not furnished the details so far, As by linking the Aadhaar Number, many facilities would be rolled out for the benefit of the electors relating to maintenance of their entries in the Electoral Rolls."
