Chennai Meteorological Centre: Chennai may touch 112 degrees this summer!

Posted on: 06/Mar/2015 5:17:54 PM
Summer has been intensifying in Tamil Nadu since February. It has been quite hot especially in South Tamil Nadu Districts such as Madurai, Palayankottai, and Kovilpatti.

Chennai meteorological centre explained that since the humidity (moisture content in the air) is less, the intensity of heat is quite high.

The temperature hovers around 95 degrees on the average. There are prospects that temperature will touch/cross 112 degrees during the severe part of summer.

The temperature may even be higher in Vellore, Trichy, and Palayankottai!

Thermal convection formed during April may result in summer rains.

Madurai recorded 98 degrees yesterday (5th March). Trichy – 97, Palaynkottai – 96, Salem & Vellore – 95, Coimbatore, Karur, and Paramathi – 94, Chennai – 92 were the other temperatures recorded in degrees.
