Why Chennai hotel rates down?

A recent survey clearly shows the hotel prices of Asia has fall compared to other countries. Especially in India the price index of the hotel have been on the decline.
In Chennai, now the service apartments offer low rates compared to hotels. Mr. Natarajan, secretary, South India Hotels and Restaurants Association said the occupancy rate in the Chennai hotels is only 45 to 55 percent.
And also new luxury hotels were offering attractive discount rate is one of the main reason for down the hotel rates said Prakash Jayadevan, general manager, Courtyard by Marriott, Chennai.
