The project to generate power from  vegetable waste was commenced in 2006.

Equipment called ‘macerator’ is used for converting all vegetable waste into a paste form and then used for generation of electricity.

The generation started for the first time in 2011. However, the equipment was kept out of operation for more than 2 years since. A new equipment was procured from Czech and the generation resumed during September 2014 and has continued.

In the last few years, the daily power generation from this plant was 500 units. However, currently, the plant is generating 1000 units of electrical energy daily.

The officials hope that this may even increase further.
