No power cuts this summer

As the summer is fast approaching, people of Tamil Nadu are very much worried about the scheduled power cuts. With the mercury rising, people have already started turning towards the air conditioners.
What would be the situation this summer? When asked some of the senior officials of Tangedco, they said that they could scrape through this summer without going for scheduled load shedding, which has been in place since 2008.
Officials are very optimistic because several new projects including the NLC-TNEB joint venture (two units) at Tuticorin, Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (one unit) and the Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor Kalpakkam that are scheduled to be commissioned this year to offset the gap between demand and supply.
A plan has also been devised by the power managers to make sure that scheduled power cuts are not there.
