YMCA to celebrate its 125th anniversary today

YMCA will be celebrating its 125th anniversary year in Chennai today. Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah will be the chief guest.
YMCA General Secretary M Jeevakumar while speaking to the media said, “ YMCA was formed in the year 1884 in London with the intention of helping the youths to spend their spare time in a useful way. In the year 1890, the Chennai chapter was launched. In the year 1891 a National coordinating committee for all the branches in India was constituted. 125th Anniversary year of YMCA will be celebrated. Representatives of 45 countries will participate in these celebrations. In this function, 9 outstanding people from various fields are to honoured.”
