Why is mathematics taught this way all the time?

It is ultimately the basic math studied in tenth and twelfth standards that help in fetching good score in Engineering studies. However, not being taught with these foundational elements of math leads the students into a troublesome path in Engineering. Researchers at the Math department of Hindustan University made a research on this with nearly 100 engineering college students, faculties and parents of these students in Chennai. An analysis was made to identify the reason behind failure of students in math subject.
Most of the answers given by the people inquired were the poor teaching given in schooling. They say, mathematics in twelfth standard aims at scoring maximum marks in final examination.
According to one of the researchers, teachers in schools give study materials to their children, rather than teaching them actual concepts. These students are imparted with knowledge to solve model questions, but not to solve all problems in the book. Students are scared to handle math in engineering level due to the poor knowledge of match concepts attained in schooling.
