THE SCHOOL TO CREATE THE WORLDS LARGEST HAND-PAINTED CLOTH BANNER

Coimbatore may witness the creation of two Guinness World Records on June 13.
AVB Matriculation Higher Secondary School will attempt creating the world`s largest hand-painted cloth banner and also bringing together the biggest group of people dressed as Mahatma Gandhi.
Sharing the details with the media here on Wednesday, Correspondent of the school K. Venkateswaran said 1,800 students, their parents and grandparents, in all numbering over 7,000, would hand paint on 3,800 sq.m. of grey fabric. The participants of the record would use 900 litres of paint.
They would place their hand impressions on different pieces of the fabric that would form the World Classical Tamil Conference logo when stitched. This is an attempt on the part of the AVB School to commemorate the Tamil conference.
The event will begin at 4.30 a.m. and go on till 8.30 a.m., and after stitching, by 10.30 a.m., the School management will display the painted fabric to the public.
Mr.Venkateswaran said the current Guinness record for the largest hand-painted cloth was 2,505 sq.m.
The target the Guinness managers had given the school was 2,800 sq.m. but the school chose to increase it to 3,600 sq.m. The school has given a timetable for students to schedule their arrival and participation at the event.
The second Guinness World Record was bringing together the biggest group of students dressed as Mahatma Gandhi. Mr. Venkateswaran said 255 boys would participate in the event and as per Guinness specification they would have their head shaved, come with spectacles, dhoti, an upper wear and walking stick. The makeup for this event will begin at 5.30 a.m. and is expected to be over by 10.30 a.m.
As part of the event the school will also organise a rally from Periyanaickenpalayam to the school premises at Thekkupallam to highlight the merits of Tamil.
The Correspondent also said that the school would upload pictures and videos every half hour to the Guinness managers to intimate the progress. Guinness representatives would also be present at the school.
