Dr Dheen Muhammed Ismail, a practitioner at Chennai Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospitals says it is important for all women above 35 age to consume calcium tablets.

Yesterday was observed as the day for knee bone surgeries. On account of this, doctor Dheen Muhammed Ismail said as follows:

“The most common problem faced by people these days is the wear of knee bones. Compared to men, women are in more numbers to face the issue. This is because, in women, fibrous tissues and bones are comparatively weaker. Apart from this, excessive weight contributes to the reason behind the trouble. In men, the problem occurs mainly because of wounds or accidents they might have met with.

For one to prevent knee bone wear, it is necessary for one to have undergone regular exercise practices right from their childhood. It is important to consume calcium and vitamin rich food items. Milk and other dairy products are rich in these two. However, too much consumption of milk will lead to fat deposition in blood. Hence, for women, it is recommended to consume calcium and vitamin tablets after the age of 35, upon doctor’s advice though. In case of men, these tablets are recommended after the age of 55.”
