SIM-based sensors to help truck operators

Posted on: 05/Aug/2014 9:30:55 AM
With the newly launched SIM based sensors, truck and bus operators will now be able to know the fuel costs and passenger density on various routes they travel. These sensors will be placed under the passenger seats and fuel tanks. This will keep tracking the fuel consumption and seat occupancy in the vehicle. This method was implemented in government in Odhisha by Airtel. Sensors were installed in over 50 buses of Odisha State Corporation. Real-time information will be sent from these sensors which will get received at a remote server.

Likewise, the sensors used under seats will keep monitoring the seat occupancy. An alert will be sent to the control room as soon as a person sits on a seat. This alert indicates that the seat is occupied with a passenger. With this, it would be easier to track down the demand pattern in specific routes.
