Moulivakkam multi-storeyed building collapse: rescue operations are completed! 27 persons rescued & 61 dead!

The rescue operations which continued non-stop for the last 7 days in the site of the multi-storeyed building that collapsed in Moulivakkam near Porur have been completed.

The 11-storeyed building, constructed by Prime Srushti, in Moulivakkam, near Porur, collapsed on 28th June.

The rescue operations started from the same evening and continued without any breaks.

27 persons were rescued alive. 61 persons lost their lives caught in the debris.

Construction workers from Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Orisha lost their lives in the building collapse.

Over 10 bodies could not be identified and are lying in the government Royappettah hospital.

Apart from the Police Force, fire-fighting squads, and National Disaster Retrieval Force also joined the reuse operations in full swing.

As on today (4th July), only debris removal is being carried out in the building collapse site.

Experts remarked that the rescue operations were carried out deliberately slowly so as not to lose any lives through any damage.

It was a challenge to rescue a person from Orisha after a struggle for 7 hours.

27 persons were rescued over 7 days.

A meeting was conducted by all the squads (Police, Fire-fighting, and National Disaster Rescue team) before the completion of the rescue operations.
