Chasing for Locations to Place ‘Amma Unavagam’

Chennai Corporation officers including the Zonal officers, councilors and Health Department officials have been dragged to be in the state of alacrity to start on one more additional Amma Unavagam in each and every ward over the city.
TamilNadu Chief Minister J Jayalalitha has announced the opening of the subsidized canteens on 1 June.
The essential files have been geared up for administrative endorsement of the project and the work is now in progress to spot the potential locations for the new Amma Unavagams.
The mission of choosing the location for the next phase of Amma Unavagams has been given out in the hand of 15 zonal officers of the corporation. They are supposed to fix the spot for the Amma Unavagams after getting guidance’s from the councilors.
While searching for the locations, various factors should be taken into account that include closeness to congested places, make sure that it is not very adjacent to available Amma Unavagams and accessibility of space in available Corporation belongings amid other stuffs. We are estimating the logistics, said a Corporation official.
Right now, there are about 203 Amma Unavagams operating in the Chennai Corporation’s Health Department, with one canteen in every civic body’s wards and the others at spots which foresee huge crowds. Once after chief minister installs the newest 200 canteens, the total sum of Amma Unavagams across Chennai would go up to 407.
