Even with the meager level of about 46 cubic feet water in the reservoirs, the Metro Water officials feels pretty convinced about the water flow state across the city, as the Monday’s rainstorm has throw in to the city’s water assets.

Presently, the city’s reservoirs seize approximately 1 million cubic feet, which is pretty higher than preceding year’s status.

Though the input of the Monday’s heavy shower to the city’s water coffers was minor, with just 46 cubic feet amass in the catchment region near the Poondi reservoir, the city felts contentedly rested as far its H20 assets were anxious, said the trustable sources from the Chennai Metro Water Department.

As on Tuesday, the data from the Water board department shows that the Poondi, Cholavaram, Red Hills and Chembarambakkam reservoirs collectively embraces 3,044 mcft of water.

This is a substantial rise, when compared to the previous year, where the three reservoirs jointly hold 1,984 mcft of water.

This increase in the water level is mainly because of the inflow of Krishna Water over the city along with the water contributed from the Veeranam Lake and also from the Minjur and Nemmeli desalination plants.

Along with the arrival of torrential rain seems to the bang the city soon, there won’t be any water shortfall in the near vicinity, said an official.
