Opening Ceremony of New Four-Storeyed Complex in Chennai for CB-CID by Chief Minister

In Chennai, TamilNadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha has set up a new tangled four-storeyed office building especially for the Crime Branch - Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister reached the venue approximately at 11.24 AM. A warm welcome has been rendered by K Ramanujam, director general of police and also by many senior police officers.

A ceremony of ‘lighting Kuthuvilakku’ has been carried out by chief minister, as an indication of the inauguration of the building.

This new tangled building comprises of about 50,000 sqft and located in the premises of the old commissioner office. This build had been approved at an estimation of Rs.10.75 Crores.

This building has been intended as per the guidelines of the director general of police premises with a big portico and the exterior painted with white, a police source said.

Even though the building work has been completed well before, the inauguration event got delayed owing to the Lok Sabha poll, said the senior officials.

This new CB-CID building has been constructed in a way to accommodate 700 personnel, along with three sub-fragments, namely prime CB-CID, Crime wing and Economic Offences wing.
